Why Paws for Purple Hearts is involved:
Paws for Purple Hearts San Antonio would like to give back to both the San Antonio and surrounding regions that are affected by Hurricane Harvey.
A few weeks ago, our Paws for Purple Hearts San Antonio team was in Houston for a week-long event and was welcomed with open arms by the community. We absolutely fell in love with the optimism and positivity from our Houston supporters and we feel that it was very unfortunate that our neighbors were affected so greatly by Hurricane Harvey. We would like to keep up the morale of our neighboring cities by doing as much as we can to support them in this crisis.
Houston is the fourth most populated city in the US with over 2.3 million people. Hurricane Harvey, with its relentless rain, continues to displace thousands of people and their pets. As Harvey continues its destructive course, many other Texans and their beloved pets will be forced from their homes.
San Antonio Animal Care Services are working tirelessly to support their current population of shelter animals and is now bracing to provide relief to the coming waves of displaced animals. Your contribution of urgently-needed items (see above) will provide comfort to these animals in their hour of greatest need.
