Big Events in the Bay Area
Come join us and help support our mission by visiting us at the Monterey Veteran’s Resource Fair on August 31st and at the Simply Good Works celebration on September 15th.
The Veterans’ Resource Fair is being held at the Monterey County Fair on August 31, 2018 as part of the Fair’s Military and Veteran’s Appreciation Day. This all-day event helps inform our Veterans of all ages about services and programs available to them. Since this is event occurs as part of the Monterey County Fair, Veterans can bring their families to get important information for themselves and spend a great day out at the fair. Active Duty Service Members and Veterans get in free with valid military ID. Paws for Purple Hearts will be there to help folks learn about the great life-changing service dogs and therapeutic services we provide. Stop by our table to meet some of our amazing service dogs in training!
Simply Good Works will hold their annual fundraising event to support the Paws for Purple Hearts mission on September 15th at the San Jose Elks Lodge #522 located at 444 W. Alma Ave., San Jose, CA. This fun-filled event starts at 6 pm and features music, dancing, raffle prizes, a silent auction, delicious food and, most importantly, fellowship with Veterans and the folks who support them. Whether you attend or donate a ticket to a Veteran, it is always a great night for everyone and supports a very noble cause. We’ll be there with some of our canine colleagues to demonstrate some of the services provided by our life-changing service dogs. To help build awareness about the therapeutic services we provide to our nation’s Warriors, we will show a very informative video during the event.
Timmy update…
Since Timmy turned 3 in July, he will go back to our headquarters in Penngrove, California to determine the next chapter in his career. Timmy has helped many, many Veterans here at Menlo Park during therapy sessions while he was in training, and he will continue to do great things no matter what his future looks like. We teach our dogs to walk nicely next to their Warriors. Timmy is great at working with Veterans as they refine their dog handling skills, as you can see in this photo showing him practicing walking with a gentle lead. Please find him at #PPHTimmy
